The article “Cafeteria Dreams” by Evan Wiig featuring the Farm to School Program
Thousands of students are enrolled in our North Coast public schools, but how are they connected physically to their food sources?
Conservation Works is currently collaborating with partners to connect these students with local food sourced from micro farmers and those using climate-friendly, regenerative practices. We believe that creating connections in school gardens, classrooms, and visits to local working agricultural lands is key to creating healthy communities. Our local schools serve thousands of meals each year, and expanding opportunities for local food procurement that is tied to food-based education is essential for establishing healthy eating habits that children can carry into adulthood.
