Current Grants and Funding Opportunities for Farmers and Ranchers

  • Drought Relief Grant - Asian Business Institute & Resource Center

    The 2023 CUSP Drought Relief Grant Program provides reimbursement grants for expenses incurred as a result of the drought. The CUSP Program targets small and medium scale agricultural producers, prioritizing Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers.

  • Drought Relief Grants for Organic Farmers and Ranchers - California Certified Organic Farmers

    CCOF has partnered with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) to administer drought relief grants. These are reimbursement grants for expenses incurred as a result of drought. Drought relief funding is only open to organic farmers and ranchers in California. Funding is prioritized for small-scale operations and for underserved (socially disadvantaged) communities. Grant amounts range between $5,000 to $20,000.

  • Grants for Students in Organic - California Certified Organic Farmers

    Future Organic Farmers gives $5,000 scholarships to college and vocational students training for careers in organic. Future Organic Farmer grants are an investment in our future food system. We hear from our Future Organic Farmer grantees that this scholarship helped them pursue organic and gave them confidence to succeed.

  • Farm to School Incubator Grant Program - California Department of Food and Agriculture

    Farm to School Incubator Grant Program - California Department of Food and Agriculture

    The CDFA is awarding grants to support projects that cultivate equity, nurture students, build climate resilience, and create scalable and sustainable change. Funding will prioritize small to midsize, socially disadvantaged, and climate smart agriculture productions.

  • Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program - California Department of Food and Agriculture

    The purpose of the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) program is to build resilience in the middle of the food supply chain; to provide more and better markets to small farms and food businesses; to support the development of value-added products for consumers, fair prices, and fair wages; and create new and safe job opportunities.

  • California Ag Network for Pollinators - California Department of Food and Agriculture

    The California Ag-Land Network for Pollinators (CAN for Pollinators) is looking for producers who are enthusiastic about increasing pollinator habitat and receiving financial and technical support for implementing on farm practices that support pollinators in California. Through a USDA NRCS Regional Conservation Partnership Program, CAN for Pollinators is offering contracts to distribute over $1,000,000 to California’s farmers and ranchers to help them build habitat on their property. Pollinator Partnership and the CAN for Pollinators Team are eager to have you join the network as a producer-participant.

  • Application for Compost Grant - Zero Foodprint - Compost Connector

    Through Compost Connector, Zero Foodprint works with local jurisdictions to make the best use of this compost by directing it to farms and ranches where it can sequester carbon and promote healthy soil.

    If you’re a California farmer or rancher purchasing compost from an Zero Foodprint approved facility, you’re eligible to apply for a Compost Connector grant.

  • Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Mentorship Program - California Bountiful Foundation

    Beginning farmers and ranchers in California face many challenges in sustaining their agricultural operations. This program provides no-cost mentoring services from established farmers and ranchers to facilitate knowledge transfer.
