In 2023 Conservation Works received funding from the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Department to support the North Coast Soil Hub’s efforts to accelerate and build up a network of climate-smart farm demonstration sites across the North Coast. Conservation Works believes that scaling up soil health and other climate-smart agricultural practices to sequester carbon, increase water and nutrient use efficiency, and improve the resilience of farms to climate-related threats like drought and floods is a critical climate-smart strategy across our state.
Partnering with the UC ANR and the North Coast Soil Hub for the next few years will not only provide our local farmers the skills to adopt climate-smart practices tailored to their farms but will also help form soil health and resilience monitoring protocols for the arid and Mediterranean climates of California.
